A causa della pandemia ancora in corso, questa sarà un'annata diversa dalle altre, sono stati inclusi anche i film usciti solo online e la cerimonia sarà molto diversa dalle precedenti, con Tina Fey e Amy Poehler che presenteranno la serata da due città diverse, la prima a New York e la seconda a Los Angeles. Non è ancora stato chiarito se i nominati saranno presenti o in collegamento.
