Spirit Awards 2025 - le nomination

Siamo ormai nella stagione dei premi ed è tempo di nomination. 

Sono state annunciate poco fa le candidature per gli Independent Spirit Awards, i premi al Cinema Indipendente assegnati dall'associazione Film Independent.

Non solo "film di nicchia", da anni ormai tra i candidati per i premi al cinema indipendente ci sono anche titoli che ritroviamo poi in altre premiazioni, compresi gli Oscars. Nel 2023, ad esempio, a vincere è stato Everything Everywhere All At Once che poi ha dominato tutta la stagione dei premi.

Ecco le nomination principali. Ricordiamo che da un paio di anni le categorie della recitazione sono solo due, senza differenza di genere.

Independent Spirit Awards 2023 - trionfa Everything Everywhere All at Once

Consegnati nella notte gli Independent Spirit Awards 2023, i premi del Cinema Indipendente, ed è stata un'altra serata di trionfo per Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Il film dei Daniels si porta a casa ben sette premi su otto nomination, compresi miglior film, regia, e i premi agli interpreti. Non ci sono più i premi al migliore attore o attrice ma delle categorie miste, Michelle Yeoh ha vinto il premio per l'interpretazione da protagonista, Ke Huy Quan da non protagonista, e Stephanie Hsu interpretazione d'esordio.

Negli ultimi anni gli Independent Spirit Awards sono diventati abbastanza indicativi in ottica Oscar e la strada di Everything Everywhere All at Once verso la vittoria dell'Academy Award sembra sempre più segnata.

Independent Spirit Awards 2023 - le nomination

Inizia la stagione dei premi, come sempre dalle nomination agli Independent Spirit Awards.

I film vengono scelti da una commissione formata da circa cinquanta persone e poi votati dai 6mila membri della Film Independent. Per poter rientrare nelle nomination, i film devono essere prodotti negli Stati Uniti e con un budget inferiore ai 22.5 milioni di dollari.

Quest'anno le nomination sono arrivate prima del solito, questo potrebbe influenzare le candidature dei Critics Choice Awards e dei Golden Globes. La cerimonia di premiazione si terrà il 4 marzo 2023, alcuni giorni prima della chiusura delle votazioni degli Oscar 2023, e anche in questo caso, i vincitori potrebbero spostare gli equilibri.

Grossa novità nelle categorie, abolite le cinquine di migliore attrice e migliore attore, sia protagonista che non protagonista, sostituite da categorie "genderless" con numerosi candidati: migliore performance da protagonista e migliore performance da non protagonista.

Tra i film a raccogliere più nomination quest'anno, spicca Everything Everywhere All at Once con 8 candidature, seguito da Tár con sette. Tra i nominati anche Bones and All di Luca Guadagnino,

Spirit Awards 2022 - trionfo per 'La Figlia Oscura' di Maggie Gyllenhaal

Si sono tenuti ieri sera gli Independent Spirit Awards 2022, i premi del cinema indipendente.

Regina della serata Maggie Gyllenhaal con il suo La Figlia Oscura, il suo primo film da regista, tratto dall'omonimo romanzo di Elena Ferrante. L'attrice ha vinto il premio miglior film, migliore regia, e migliore sceneggiatura, firmata sempre da lei. Una serata da ricordare in attesa degli Oscar 2022 dove il film è candidato in tre categoria (attrice, attrice non protagonista, e sceneggiatura non originale).

Taylour Paige (Zola) e Simon Rex (Red Rocket) sono stati premiati come migliori protagonisti, Ruth Negga (Passing, esordio alla regia di Rebecca Hall) e Troy Kotsur (I Segni del Cuore) hanno vinto il premio come migliore attrice e attore non protagonista.

Independent Spirit Awards 2021 - vince Nomadland. Ecco tutti i vincitori.

Come sempre, a poche ore dagli Oscar, sono stati consegnati gli Independent Spirit Awards, i premi del cinema indipendente americano.

Continua la marcia trionfale di Nomadland, anche agli Independent Spirit Awards, il film di Chloe Zhao ha vinto il premio come miglior film. Ora manca solo l'Oscar, dove è indubbiamente il grande favorito.

Il film ha portato a casa anche il premio per la migliore regia, fotografia e montaggio (andato alla stessa Zhao).

Sorpresa nelle categorie dei protagonisti. Il premio come migliore attore è stato assegnato a Riz Ahmed per Sound of Metal, mentre quello come migliore attrice a Carey Mulligan per Una Donna Promettente. Molto bella la dedica che l'attrice ha voluto fare Helen McCrory, scomparsa pochi giorni fa: "Lei era un vero spirito indipendente e una attrice che ho ammirato e alla quale continuerò a ispirarmi per il resto della mia carriera. Quindi, grazie a Helen McCrory per tutto ciò che ci ha dato".

Il premio come migliore attrice non protagonista è andato a Yuh-jung Youn per Minari, quello come migliore attore non protagonista invece a Paul Raci per Sound of Metal.

Independent Spirit Awards 2019 - vince 'Se la Strada Potesse Parlare'

Come da tradizione, il giorno prima degli Oscar vengono assegnati gli Independent Spirit Awards, i premi del Cinema indipendente americano (con un budget inferiore ai 20 milioni di dollari).

A vincere come miglior film è stato Se la Strada Potesse Parlare di Barry Jenkins, che si è portato a casa anche il premio per la migliore regia.
Tra gli attori, ancora una conferma per Glenn Close (The Wife), premiata come migliore attrice, e per Regina King (Se la Strada Potesse Parlare) nella categoria delle migliori attrici non protagoniste. Il premio come migliore attore protagonista è stato assegnato invece a Ethan Hawke (Firts Reformed), che non è candidato agli Oscar, mentre quello come migliore attore non protagonista è andato a Richard E. Grant (Copia Originale).

C'è anche un po' di Italia tra i vincitori, due riconoscimenti infatti sono andati a Suspiria, il film di Luca Guadagnino è stato premiato per la migliore fotografia e ha poi ricevuto il premio Robert Altman.
Un premio anche per Roma di Alfonso Cuaron, premiato come miglior film internazionale. Sorry To Bother You è la migliore opera prima.

Independent Spirit Awards 2014 - i vincitori

Sono stati assegnati ieri, un giorno prima degli Oscar, gli Independent Spirit Awards 2014, gli "Oscar indipendenti" che premiano i film con un budget inferiore ai 20 milioni di dollari.

A trionfare come miglior film è stato '12 Anni Schiavo' che si è aggiudicato anche i premi per la migliore regia e la migliore attrice non protagonista (Lupita Nyong'o).

Matthew McConaughey si è portato a casa il premio come migliore attore per 'Dallas Buyers Club', ennesimo premio come migliore attrice per Cate Blanchett ('Blue Jasmine').
Premiato come miglior film straniero 'La Vita di Adele', assente nella cinquina per gli Oscar in quanto "non nominabile".

Da sottolineare comunque l'assenza di 'Gravity' e altri titoli importanti che invece saranno presenti all'Oscar, il film di McQueen non poteva non vincere insomma.

Independent Spirit Awards 2014 - le nomination

Annunciate pochi minuti fa le nomination degli Independent Spirit Awards, "gli Oscar" del cinema indipendente.

A farla da padrona quest'anno è '12 Years a Slave' di Steve McQueen che raccoglie il maggior numero di nomination.
Fra i migliori film stranieri c'è anche 'La Grande Bellezza' di Paolo Sorrentino, oltre che 'La Vita di Adele' di Abdel Kechiche.
