Inizia la stagione dei premi, come sempre dalle nomination agli Independent Spirit Awards.
Quest'anno le nomination sono arrivate prima del solito, questo potrebbe influenzare le candidature dei Critics Choice Awards e dei Golden Globes. La cerimonia di premiazione si terrà il 4 marzo 2023, alcuni giorni prima della chiusura delle votazioni degli Oscar 2023, e anche in questo caso, i vincitori potrebbero spostare gli equilibri.
Grossa novità nelle categorie, abolite le cinquine di migliore attrice e migliore attore, sia protagonista che non protagonista, sostituite da categorie "genderless" con numerosi candidati: migliore performance da protagonista e migliore performance da non protagonista.
Tra i film a raccogliere più nomination quest'anno, spicca Everything Everywhere All at Once con 8 candidature, seguito da Tár con sette. Tra i nominati anche Bones and All di Luca Guadagnino,
