Oscar 2023 - le nomination!

Sono state annunciate poco fa le nomination agli Oscar 2023.

A ricevere il maggior numero di candidature, cioè 11, è stato Everything Everywhere All At Once, il grande favorito della serata, ma grande exploit per Niente di Nuovo sul Fronte Occidentale, il film tedesco ha ottenuto ben 9 nomination, tra cui la doppietta come miglior film e film straniero. Nove nomination anche per Gli Spiriti dell'Isola, otto invece per Elvis.

Tra i dieci titoli candidati come miglior film, anche i due incassi più importanti dello scorso anno, Avatar: La Via dell'Acqua e Top Gun: Maverick.

Qualche sorpresa nelle categorie degli interpreti, dove sono comunque presenti tutti i grandi favoriti e ci sono tante "prime volte". Non c'è l'Italia tra i candidati per il miglior film straniero, ma questo già si sapeva, c'è però un po' d'Italia nella categoria miglior cortometraggio, con Le Pupille di Alice Rohrwacher.

La cerimonia di premiazione si terrà il 12 marzo, a presentare sarà Jimmy Kimmel.

Critics Choice Awards 2023 - le nomination

Sono arrivata anche le nomination ai Critics Choice Awards 2023, premio assegnato dalla Broadcast Film Critics Association, cioè circa 250 critici cinematografici americani tra tv, radio, stampa e online, che è diventato molto più rilevante, almeno a livello di visibilità, grazie al calo di popolarità dei Golden Globe.

A fare la voce grossa quest'anno è Everything Everywhere All At Once, che ha ottenuto ben 14 nomination. A seguire The Fabelmans con undici nomination e, a sorpresa visto che ha diviso molto la critica, Babylon, con dieci candidature.

Top Gun: Maverick ha ottenuto sei nomination, tra cui miglior film e migliore attore a Tom Cruise, stesso numero di Avatar - La Via dell'Acqua, che ha ottenuti la nomination per miglior film e regia. Nove candidature per Gli Spiriti dell'Isola, sette per Elvis e TAR.

La cerimonia di premiazione si terrà il 15 gennaio.

Golden Globes 2023 - le nomination

Sono state annunciate le nomination per Cinema e Televisione dei Golden Globes 2023.

Quello che sta finendo è stato un anno molto difficile per la Hollywood Foreign Press Association, lo scandalo sul razzismo, le polemiche, le proteste, il boicottaggio della serata di premiazione da parte di attrici e attori e anche dall'emittente tv, serata che alla fine non si è tenuta, poi il cambio ai vertici, un nuovo regolamento che ha promesso più inclusione, l'arrivo di nuovi membri per avere più diversità. Adesso, i Golden Globes cercano il rilancio con le nomination per il 2023 e un nuovo accordo con NBC che garantirà la diretta della cerimonia di premiazione in tv che sarà condotta dal comico Jerrod Carmichael. Un nuovo inizio per la Hollywood Foreign Press, che sta provando a rimettersi in sesto, ma resta lo scetticismo e ancora non è chiaro come l'industria cinematografica deciderà di reagire, se registi, attrici e attori parteciperanno alla serata (sicuramente non ci sarà Brendan Fraser, tra i nominati) oppure continueranno con il boicottaggio, e sarebbe davvero una brutta botta per la HFPA.

La cerimonia si terrà il prossimo 10 gennaio. Ecco le nomination.

Top Gun: Maverick - la recensione

Il primo Top Gun è stato un cult tale da lanciare veri e propri stili iconici: la giacca di pelle, i Ray-Ban, per non parlare del sorriso sfacciato di Tom Cruise, tutti elementi che hanno segnato un'epoca (gli anni '80). e sono andati oltre, causando anche un boom di arruolamenti nella marina militare, che usò il film come vero e proprio marketing.

Fare un sequel di un simile cult dopo 36 anni era pericoloso e rischiava di schiantarsi contro la montagna della nostalgia fine a se stessa. Ma quando Tom Cruise decide di metterci la faccia, di nuovo, e torna a bordo del suo caccia F-14, non lo fa a caso. Trentasei anni dopo, ha qualche ruga in più e uno strapotere che lo ha innalzato a ultima vera star hollywoodiana, capace di arrivare sul red carpet pilotando un elicottero, lanciarsi dai palazzi e pilotare un vero caccia all'interno del film, incassando milioni di dollari al botteghino, senza mai perdere il sorriso sfacciato che sfoggiava nel primo, mitico, Top Gun del 1986.

Il sequel è ben consapevole di tutta la responsabilità e i rischi che si porta dietro e, ben lontano dall'essere una pura e semplice operazione nostalgia, si dimostra un film più maturo, equilibrato e in definitiva migliore del suo predecessore. Il tempo che separa i due film viene sapientemente sfruttato per parlare di scelte di vita, rimpianti e paternità, riportando Maverick, vecchia gloria ma considerato ormai quasi un pezzo da museo dai suoi stessi superiori, a dover fare da istruttore alle nuove reclute dei top gun, fra cui il figlio del mai dimenticato Goose, con tutto il peso del senso di colpa che grava sul personaggio di Cruise e sul rapporto padre-figlio che ne consegue. Una profondità che la pellicola patinata anni 80 non possedeva, più impegnata nell'essere un enorme spot di virilità e sul versante prettamente romantico.

Non mancano però i momenti in cui i vecchi fan sentiranno un brivido lungo la schiena, a cominciare dalle note di apertura dell'inconfondibile "Danger zone" di Kenny Loggins, fino al tema musicale iconico qui ripreso dal grande Hans Zimmer.

Con una trama solida, attori in parte e sequenze d'azione mozzafiato, Top Gun: Maverick dimostra che per fare grande Cinema, in fondo, non c'è bisogno di arzigogoli di trama o bieco fan service, basta il cuore, quello che il suo protagonista infonde nel progetto in ogni sua parte e che traspare in ogni scena. Un film che, come lo stesso Tom Cruise, fa bene al Cinema.

Festival di Cannes 2022 - presentati i titoli della selezione ufficiale

Si è tenuta questa mattina la conferenza stampa di presentazione del programma ufficiale del Festival di Cannes 2022 (17-28 maggio), che dopo due anni difficili, sembra più che deciso a tornare al livello di "Cinema e glamour" del passato.

Thierry Frémaux, delegato generale del Festival di Cannes, ha presentato l'elenco dei film che vedremo sulla Croisette. Molti dei titoli erano stati già anticipati dalla stampa nei giorni scorsi, il festival stesso aveva già annunciato due grandi anteprime, Elvis di Buzz Luhrmann, con Tom Hanks, e Top Gun: Maverick con Tom Cruise, non manca però qualche sorpresa.

Confermato che in Concorso ci sarà David Cronenberg con il suo nuovo film Crimes of the Future, che si preannuncia piuttosto disturbante, ci sarà Armageddon Time di James Gray, con un cast stellare che vede Anne Hathaway, Oscar Isaac, Cate Blanchett, Anthony Hopkins e Robert De Niro, e anche il nuovo film di Park Chan-Wook.

Un solo film italiano in Concorso, si tratta di Nostalgia di Mario Martone, ma c'è anche Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, con il suo nuovo film da regista, Les Amandiers. Fuori Concorso, nella sezione Cannes Premiere, sarà presentato Effetto Notte, serie sul rapimento e l'omicidio di Aldo Moro diretta da Marco Bellocchio.

Fuori Concorso sarà presentato Three Thousand Years of Longing, nuovo film di George Miller, con Tilda Swinton e Idris Elba.

Ad aprire il festival sarà Comme Z di Michel Hazanvicius, "zombie comedy", remake del giapponese Zombie contro Zombie, che vede Roman Duris e Berenice Bejo protagonisti.

Vedremo se la lista dei film rimarrà questa o se nei prossimi giorni si aggiungerà qualche titolo. Intanto, ecco i film annunciati oggi.

La Paramount rinvia A Quiet Place 2 e Top Gun: Maverick

Non c'è pace per i calendari. Dopo la Warner e la Disney, anche la Paramount è costretta a modificare le uscite dei film a causa della pandemia di coronavirus e dei contagi in aumento in molte parti del mondo.

La major ha così deciso di rimandare ancora due dei film di punta della stagione, A Quiet Place II e Top Gun: Maverick, quest'ultimo è stato rinviato anche a causa dell'impossibilità di Tom Cruise di partecipare alla campagna promozionale, l'attore infatti è impegnato con le riprese dei prossimi due Mission: Impossible (ancora ferme, sempre a causa della pandemia).
Un portavoce della Paramount ha spiegato che la scelta del rinvio è dovuta alla voglia di preservare l'esperienza della sala.

"Crediamo veramente che non ci sia un’esperienza cinematografica paragonabile a quella che si può godere in sala. Il nostro impegno va proprio in questa direzione, a sostegno degli esercenti cinematografici, e vogliamo sottolineare che non appena sarà possibile il pubblico potrà godersi nuovamente la gioia di vedere i film Paramount sul grande schermo."
