Oscar 2018 - le nomination!

Sono state appena annunciate le nomination agli Oscar 2018. Una presentazione delle nomination diversa dagli altri anni, con dei video introduttivi che vedevano protagoniste alcune attrici (Gal Gadot, Salma Hayek, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Yeoh, ecc) davvero ben fatti e divertenti.

Poche sorprese, si confermano i nomi e i titoli che fino ad oggi sono stati protagonisti di questa stagione dei premi.
Sono nove i titoli candidati nella categoria miglior film, con The Shape of Water di Guillermo del Toro che conquista ben 13 nomination, anche se stranamente manca quella nella categoria miglior trucco.

Da sottolineare la 51esima nomination per John Williams, candidato per la colonna sonora di Star Wars: The Last Jedi, e la nomination numero 21 per Meryl Streep, nella cinquina delle migliori attrici protagoniste grazie alla sua performance nel film The Post. Nomination come migliore attore anche per Daniel Day-Lewis, per la sua interpretazione nel film Il Filo Nascosto, ultimo film prima dell'annunciato ritiro.
Prima nomination per Greta Gerwig per la regia di Lady Bird, rientra così nelle pochissime donne (con lei sono cinque in tutto) nominate nella storia nella categoria per la migliore regia. Nella stessa categoria, decisamente spiazzante l'assenza di Martin McDonagh per Tre Manifesti a Ebbing, Missouri.
Mudbound è il primo film prodotto da Netflix a ricevere delle nomination agli Oscar.

La cerimonia degli Academy Awards, arrivati alla 90esima edizione, si terranno il 4 marzo. Ecco le nomination.

L'Ora Più Buia - la recensione

Maggio 1940. Appena nominato Primo Ministro, dopo le dimissioni di Neville Chamberlain, e con l'esercito tedesco che sta sbaragliando ogni difesa nell'europa centrale, Winston Churchill si trova ad affrontare il momento più buio della storia del suo paese. Ha un carattere irascibile e lunatico, ma una volontà ferrea che non ammette resa, anche quando i suoi stessi alleati politici sono contro di lui. Appoggiato dal Parlamento e con un'incredibile partecipazione popolare, ordina di radunare una immensa flotta civile per recuperare più di trecentomila soldati intrappolati sulla spiaggia francese di Dunkerque e pronuncia un discorso diventato inconico: "We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender".

Il regista inglese Joe Wright, dopo il passo falso compiuto con Pan - Viaggio sull'Isola che non c'è, si fa perdonare e torna ai fasti che hanno caratterizzato pellicole come Orgoglio e Pregiudizio e soprattutto Espiazione, dirigendo con maestria un film storico dal sapore fortemente celebrativo, senza mai scadere nel retorico, riuscendo a essere emozionante e teso nonostante gli eventi siano ben noti, e nonostante la connotazione patriottica.

Certo, non si sta parlando di un capolavoro e a volte il film tende a essere un po' troppo carico, ma se ci si lascia prendere dallo spirito del momento, si riesce a passarci sopra facilmente.
E poi, naturalmente, c'è Gary Oldman.
Perché non si può negare che L'Ora più Buia sia, principalmente e sopra ogni cosa, un film costruito su un personaggio e una performance monumentale di un attore straordinario. Un plauso va al trucco, perfetto nel redere le sembianze di Oldman incredibilmente simili a quelle che si possono vedere nelle foto d'epoca, ma, non c'è nulla da fare, il lavoro è tutta farina del sacco dell'attore vincitore del Golden Globe (e a cui, ci sembra quasi scontato dire che andrà quasi sicuramente l'Oscar).
Protagonista assoluto, dalla presenza scenica imponente, è impossibile staccargli gli occhi di dosso in ogni momento, che sia in vestaglia e a piedi nudi, o con l'iconico sigaro mentre pronuncia un discorso appassionato in Parlamento, praticamente è un one man show di cui non si è mai sazi, oscurando tutti gli altri, seppur ottimi, interpreti.
