Quentin Tarantino è stato decretato come il migliore regista per il suo C'era una Volta a Hollywood, film per cui è stato premiato anche Brad Pitt come migliore attore non protagonista. Migliore attrice protagonista Renée Zellweger con la sua straordinaria interpretazione nel film Judy. Sorpresa, ma neanche tanto, per il migliore attore protagonista, assegnato a Adam Sandler per il film Uncut Gems, mentre il premio come migliore attrice non protagonista è andato a Kathy Bates per Richard Jewell, ultimo film di Clint Eastwood che potrebbe fare da outsider nella stagione dei premi.
Migliore film straniero Parasite di Bong Joon-ho. Come migliore film d'animazione è stato premiato Dragon Trainer - Il Mondo Nascosto, terzo capitolo della saga.
Il National Board of Review ha poi stilato la lista dei migliori film dell'anno: Top10 dei miglior film dell'anno, Top10 dei film stranieri, Top5 per i documentari, e Top10 dei film indipendenti.
