Si parte subito col botto, ad aprire il festival sarà 'The Fifth Estate', il film con Benedict Cumberbatch nei panni di Julian Assange.Nel programma troviamo tanti titoli interessanti, e molti che puntano dritti all'Oscar come '12 Years Slave' di Steve McQueen, 'August: Osage County', che vedrà Meryl Streep e Julia Roberts insieme, 'Labor Day' con Josh Brolin e Kate Winslet. C'è anche la commedia con Jack Black, Matt Dillon, Renée Zellweger, Rachel McAdams, Owen Wilson e Zach Galifianakis in 'You Are Here', film impegnati come 'Dallas Buyers Club' con Matthew McConaughey dimagrito 15 chili per la parte, il romantic drama 'The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Him and Her', due film, la stessa storia da due punti di vista, di lui (James McAvoy) e di lei (Jessica Chastain), e 'Third Person' di Paul Haggis, girato quasi interamente a Roma con un cast di star.
Presente anche l'Italia. Daniele Luchetti salta Venezia e porta a Toronto il suo 'Anni Felici', con Kim Rossi Stuart e Micaela Ramazzotti, stessa cosa per Gianni Amelio con 'L'intrepido'. Presente anche Paolo Sorrentino con 'La Grande Bellezza'. Fortunato chi sarà a Toronto!
